Favourites in 2011 - Part 1
- I’m glad The Artist and Hugo got so many nominations. They both really deserve them.
- I enjoyed The Help but I really don’t think it should be nominated for best picture. I get the individual nominations for lead and supporting actresses, but best picture? Really? There are plenty of other films which were much better than this.
- We Need To Talk About Kevin, for example. Or what about Drive? Another Earth? THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO???????
- Okay so Another Earth is too independent for the Academy, but still…. it was so fucking good maaannn :(
- Brit Marling should have been nominated. Ffs.
- The Tree of Life! I’m surprised it got nominated for best picture, but I’m happy, and I think it absolutely deserves to win for best cinematography
- Speaking of cinematography….. MELANCHOLIA!?!?!?!?!?! I’m devastated this didn’t get any nominations. Kirsten Dunst should be nominated for best actress in this, too.
- Yay Woody Allen for Midnight in Paris!
- Oooooh Demian Bichir got nominated for A Better Life! I’m so glad, that film really deserves more recognition!
- I’m glad Christopher Plummer is nominated for beginners.
- Awww I’m so happy for Rooney Mara. I just watched The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and I cannot get over how incredible she was in it.
- WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK. WHERE IS ELIZABETH OLSEN’S NOMINATION FOR MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE?
- Tilda Swinton should be nominated for We Need To Talk About Kevin.
- I still haven’t seen Shame but wow I really thought Michael Fassbender would be nominated.
- Why isn’t Ryan Gosling nominated?!?!?!?!? Excuse me while I weep.
- A nomination for Ezra Miller would have been nice, too.

- The score for The Artist is perfection and I hope it wins.
- I’m surprised Carnage wasn’t nominated for anything. I thought Kate Winslet or Jodie Foster might have been nominated.
- My feelings are torn.
- I’m really happy about some things like Rooney Mara and The Artist but I still feel like they really missed out some of the best films of 2011
